Description
Single Super Phosphate (SSP) is a versatile phosphate fertilizer that supplies readily available phosphorus together with calcium and sulphur. It supports strong root development, healthy plant growth, flowering, and fruit formation, making it suitable for a wide range of agricultural and horticultural crops.
Chemical Analysis
- Phosphorus Pentoxide (P₂O₅): Contains 16% to 20% available phosphate, which is lower than Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) but highly water-soluble.
- Sulfur (S): Contains 11% to 12% sulfur in the fully oxidized sulfate (SO₄²⁻) form. This makes it immediately available for plant root uptake without needing bacterial conversion.
- Calcium (Ca): Contains 18% to 21% calcium, providing a significant boost to cell wall structure and soil health.
- Gypsum Content: Roughly 50% of an SSP granule by weight consists of calcium sulfate (gypsum), which is a natural byproduct of the chemical manufacturing process.
Major Uses & Applications
- Phosphorus fertilizer: supports strong root development, early plant growth, flowering, and fruit formation.
- Sulphur nutrition: supplies sulphur, which is important for protein and enzyme production.
- Calcium supply: provides calcium that contributes to healthy plant growth and soil nutrient balance.
- Coffee & tea production: useful where crops require phosphorus and sulphur.
- Horticulture: applied to vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other high-value crops.
- Field crops: used for cereals, legumes, oilseeds, and other agricultural crops.
- Fertilizer blending: can be incorporated into fertilizer blends to provide phosphorus and sulphur.
