Description
Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) is a concentrated phosphorus fertilizer designed to provide readily available phosphorus for healthy root development, crop establishment, flowering, and fruit formation. It is widely used in horticulture, plantation agriculture, and field-crop production, particularly where additional phosphorus is required.
Chemical Analysis
- Phosphorus Pentoxide (P₂O₅): Contains 44% to 46% of phosphorous pentoxide.
- Calcium (Ca): Contains 12% to 14% elemental calcium, which helps stabilize soil structure and support cell walls.
- Sulfur (S): Contains very little to no sulfur (under 1% to 2%). This is the key difference between TSP and Single Super Phosphate (SSP), which contains up to 12% sulfur.
- Water Solubility: Over 85% to 90% of the phosphorus in TSP is immediately water-soluble, making it rapidly accessible to plant roots.
Major Uses & Applications
- Phosphorus fertilizer: provides a concentrated and readily available source of phosphorus.
- Crop establishment: supports early root growth and healthy plant development.
- Flowering & fruiting: helps meet phosphorus requirements during reproductive growth.
- Coffee, tea & plantation crops: useful where soil tests indicate a need for phosphorus.
- Horticulture: applied to vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other high-value crops.
- Field crops: suitable for cereals, legumes, oilseeds, and other crops requiring phosphorus.
- Fertilizer blending: can be incorporated into compound and blended fertilizers to increase phosphorus content.
